Memberships & Committees

Yuma Educational Technology Consortium (YETC) is a proud member of the listed organizations. Professional membership helps to ensure that practices are current and appropriate, that legislators understand educational needs, and Yuma County’s voice is heard in all matters.

Serving on local and state-wide committees guarantees that the concerns of Yuma County, Yuma Elementary School District #1, and Yuma Union High School District #70 are voiced and considered. YETC is pleased to have at least one member on each of the following committees:

  • Arizona Technology Standards Revision Task Force 2008
  • Arizona Educational Technology Plan Revision Committee 2008

The SIT Project allows for certified educators to assist professional peers to effectively incorporate technology into the curriculum. Support from the county-assigned Technology Integration Specialists (TIS's) ensures that teachers receive the training and support necessary to sustain technology implementation with the goal to increase student engagement and achievement.

YETC’s own TIS, Christa Fairman, oversees twelve Technology Mentors in Yuma and LaPaz counties. Technology Mentors offer training and assistance to all educators in their assigned counties. Tech Mentors offer training in IDEAL, Thinfinity, Internet safety, and a host of other topics. Christa and one of the Yuma County Tech Mentors are certified Intel Teach to the Future Trainers. Contact Christa today to find out about more about trainings in your area.

A commitment to Educational Technology can be seen in the Technology Coach program which trains and supports a teacher on every campus and whose purpose is to provide professional development to campus staff and faculty. Technology Coaches assist teachers to seamlessly incorporate technology in the curriculum, facilitate a technology-embracing environment, and provide daily assistance to common technology problems.

This program began during the 2007-2008 school year on eleven Yuma Elementary District One (YESD1) campuses and grew to every YESD1 and Yuma Union High School District 70 (YUHSD 70) campus for the 2008-2009 school year. Tech Coaches work in conjunction with School Effectiveness Mentors (YESD 1), Campus Mentor Teachers (YUHSD 70), principals, and YETC to tailor trainings needed for each campus. With having an on-site Tech Coach available every day, educators have continual support that is essential to establishing effective technology integration. To learn more about this program, contact Julia Howe, YETC Technology Integration Specialist.
