Network and Library Services

The functions of the Network, Systems and Telecommunications Department are quite diverse. Our staff is comprised of nine highly-functioning individuals that are ultimately responsible for network, systems and telecommunications uptime for both District 1 and District 70, as well as providing expertise in both the data and cabling aspects of reconstruction and new construction.

Our Network and Systems team is responsible for the design, installation, and support of computer systems across both districts. We engineer and maintain the local-area networks (LAN), wide-area networks (WAN), network segments, the Internet and intranet systems, as well as maintain network hardware and software. We analyze problems, and monitor networks and systems to ensure their availability to system users, and are constantly striving to gather data to better identify customer needs and then utilize the information to identify, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.

The Network and Systems Department is involved in planning, coordinating, and implementing network security measures that ensure safe and controlled access for our staff and our students.  They ensure that the design of our district’s computer system allows all of the components – including computers, the network, and software – to work properly together. Furthermore, they monitor and adjust the performance of existing networks and continually survey the current sites to determine future network needs. Our Network and Systems Administrators troubleshoot problems reported by users and by automated network monitoring systems and make recommendations for future system upgrades.

Our Network Technicians provide a high level of expertise in relation to meeting or exceeding cabling specifications and requirements in both reconstruction and new construction projects, and are involved extensively in all construction projects from inception to completion.

Our Telecommunications team works closely with our Network and Systems Administrators in maintaining the current VOIP architecture and services Interface. These technicians contribute to the overall design and corresponding design improvements of the network infrastructure as it applies to VOIP technology, as well as provide immediate attention to all VoIP related issues our users may experience.
